Women in Business: Ava Spencer-Jones
March 13, 2025
This March we are celebrating all the women here at Oxbow Partners for International Women’s Day 2025, and today we are hearing from one of our consultants, Ava Spencer-Jones.
1 Describe yourself in 3 words
Supportive, resourceful, positive
2 What is your proudest achievement working at OP
For me, my proudest moment at OP was working on a project that improved how we share and manage knowledge internally. It was especially rewarding to see how it made a real difference in helping teams with their daily work.
I also am very proud to have a role of a buddy, and be part of the social sec team and bring the team together beyond the office setting.
3 Which women inspire you?
Women who inspire me are those who strive to feel empowered, independent and create meaningful change while empowering and uplifting others in their own lives. Personally, my mum has always been that figure – very strong and independent, yet also so loving and thoughtful.
4 How do you think you influence your colleagues around you?
I hope that I bring a positive energy to the office, and support my colleagues even when under pressure.
5 What does this year’s theme mean to you?
This years’ theme “Accelerate Action” I feel is about moving beyond discussions and taking tangible steps toward action. It’s about driving meaningful change, empowering women in all areas of life and addressing barriers that may still exist. It highlights the urgency of creating opportunities, fostering inclusion and inspiring others to join in making a lasting impact.
6 Who would be your top female dinner party guests?
That’s a tough question! I think for me Reese Witherspoon has to be on there, her business acumen as well as acting I find incredibly inspiring – and I love legally Blonde! Secondly, Agatha Christie, whose writing has brought me so much joy over the years. Finally, Saoirse Ronan, who is never afraid to speak her mind!
7 What do you think is the key to building a workplace where women can thrive?
My thought is that if individuality can be embraced, risk-taking encouraged and diverse contributions valued, you give everyone – including women – an environment where they can thrive, without needing to think about gender identities within a work context.
